'They would never pay me what they pay me now,' Justin Gaethje reveals REAL reason for not taking wrestling-heavy strategy to UFC fights

Justin Gaethje has no regrets regarding his high-risk fighting approach and brawler style. The fighter’s reckless behavior within the octagon is widely known. This has aided him throughout his professional career in engaging in some amazing battles. During a recent interview with Title Sports Network, Gaethje gave his opinion on choosing a wrestling-heavy fight plan. 

Justin Gaethje stated that if he switched up his fighting style, the UFC would not give him the same salary. The fighter claimed that because of his fearless style, he has participated in some amazing fights and has no regrets.

This is my job, I do this for the money. If I was to take a heavy wrestling approach they would never be paying me what they're paying me now. I've had huge fights, pretty much because of the way I fight so I have no regrets. Justin Gaethje via Title Sports Network

Gaethje has given the fight fans some incredible fights throughout his UFC career. The fighter always puts on a show for the viewers and fans love it. Gaethje has previously been dropped, knocked out, and submitted, yet nothing has seemed to stop him from his fighting approach.

Gaethje showed something similar at UFC 300 during his BMF clash with Max Holloway. Both fighters gave fight fans one of the most memorable fights in recent times. The two went wild for five rounds and the arena erupted in the last few seconds. Although Gaethje got knocked out by ‘Blessed’, he did receive a lot of credit for his performance.

Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje fight created a lot of buzz in the MMA Community. It immediately became an instant classic. Holloway shocked the world by dominating the fight for five rounds given he moved up to fight the ‘Highlight’. However, the Miami native was well aware of the brutal power of Gaethje.

During a recent interview with Joe Rogan, Max Holloway talked about his fight with Gaethje. According to the fighter, Gaethje hit him extremely hard and it came out of nowhere. Holloway couldn’t believe the power with which Gaethje punched him.

I remember getting hit by that punch and then like I sat and then I came back up. I was like, what the f*** did he just hit me with? I was like, holy s***. I was like, that was a good punch. Gaethje became the first opponent to drop Holloway during a fight. Both fighters received a massive $300,000 bonus for Fight of the Night. This could be the reason Gaethje claimed that if he takes a wrestling-heavy approach, he won’t get paid enough.
