As the regular season progressed, fans and critics alike witnessed who effective the Celtics’ new lineup was. Led by the All-Star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Boston rose up through the standings and finished the regular season with the best record in the NBA.

From there, Tatum and company faced a Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat team and eliminated them in five games. A similar trend also happened when they faced Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round. Once those opponents were taken care of, the Celtics will soon face whoever wins between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Draymond Green Reveals Reality of Boston Celtics’ Championship Aspirations This Season

While a lot of people are already claiming that Boston will make the NBA Finals, there’s a bigger problem hiding underneath the surface. In a video shared by The Volume on X , Golden State Warriors Draymond Green pointed out the issue at hand for the Celtics.

“Jaylen Brown making $300-plus million soon to be Jayson Tatum making [the same]… It’s a failure… A finals appearance ain’t good enough. You got to go win it all,” Green said.

Green’s perspective leads to a serious predicament for Boston. Having Tatum and Brown around at the same time will severely deplete their roster and the front office will have to go for young, unproven talent and veterans about to retire in the NBA to build a team around the two. Winning a championship will prove that their duo works and is worth keeping.

If Boston fails to win a ring, expect the front office to blow it up during the offseason. In any case, it’s best to keep an eye on them in the coming months.
