FC Barcelona and its leaders saw that manager Luis Enrique can still coach at the club level despite Paris Saint-Germain’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League semifinal.

SPORT recently mentioned that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Enrique’s future with a mix of curiosity and excitement. There’s optimism that he might not renew his contract with PSG, which could pave the way for a reunion in 2025.

After Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 1-0 defeat (2-0 on aggregate) against Borussia Dortmund, marking the end of their UEFA Champions League journey, on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes, club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi spoke to the media when they asked him about Enrique’s future.

“Will Luis Enrique stay as PSG’s coach next season? What kind of question is that, honestly? Do you understand football?” Al-Khelaïfi told reporters after being asked the question (h/t RMC Sport).

Enrique is under contract until 2025, and PSG should be looking to extend the Spanish tactician as he’d provide stability in the post-Kylian Mbappé era. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if this summer, the Parisians decide to talk extension with the 2015 Champions League winner.
